As far as summer blockbusters go, rallies and town halls focused on health care reform have been delivering the most excitement -- though mostly in the form of those who fear national health care means socialism. But an upcoming local rally urges both union members and those who support "quality universal health care" to attend.
Scheduled for Thurs. Sept. 3 at 6 p.m. at Westlake Park, the "Stand Up for Health Insurance Reform" rally wants to make a statement before Congress reconvenes and revisits the issue of health insurance. The downtown effort -- sponsored by Organizing for America, Obama's grassroots group that's continued on since his campaign -- represents one of a network of happenings across the nation that same day. U.S. Rep. Jim McDermott and Rev. Leslie Braxton are scheduled to talk, as well as others.
