No New Youth Jail coalition members gathered Monday and Tuesday mornings to protest the new youth detention center.
Monday they blocked entrances to the construction site of the new youth detention center in the Central District, and Tuesday they occupied the lobby of the King County administration building.
The actions came a week after advocates delivered a letter to King County Executive Dow Constantine asking for a halt on construction, citing widespread opposition, the disproportionate impacts on youth of color and local commitment to zeroing out youth detention.
