Across Seattle, people attending First Thursday events can enter many museums and galleries for free. In Queen Anne, people who visit Sacred Heart Church on the last two Thursdays of the month can receive free food.
Starting Thurs., March 22, the Queen Anne Food Bank at Sacred Heart Church, 232 Warren Ave. N., will reopen its doors. The food bank will operate on the final two Thursdays each month, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
People seeking items from the food bank are asked to bring a photo ID, along with a current Seattle City Light bill or rent receipt. The bill or receipt must contain the person's name with an address in zip codes 98101, 98109, 98119 or 98121.
The food bank is associated with a meals program at the church. After closing in November 2011 due to lack of money, the meals program reopened last month, thanks to monetary contributions from the community at 205 Second Ave. N.
The meals program serves lunch Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
