Undocumented people who came to this country as children are under threat after the Trump administration announced plans to end the program that allowed them to stay.
Attorney General Jeff Sessions told reporters Sept. 5 that the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program was unconstitutional and would be rescinded.
The move puts the roughly 800,000 undocumented people who came out of the shadows under the daca program at risk unless Congress acts to save it. daca allowed undocumented people who came to the country as children a chance to get two-year work permits and the ability to stay in the country.
DACA recipients took a risk under the program by volunteering information about themselves and their undocumented status to the federal government.
