This year, you no longer need to wait to make your GiveBIG donation to Real Change. All gifts pledged through the Seattle Foundation between now and midnight May 3 will be doubled through a generous $50,000 grant from Wyncote Foundation NW.
Why — with all the nonprofits in Seattle banging down your door this week — should you give to Real Change?
Because you see us creating caring community, and you see the difference Real Change makes in the lives of our vendors.
You see us reporting on the issues you care about, and you see us bringing people into action.
You see us providing the work and community that homeless and economically vulnerable people need right now. And you see us speaking truth to power and building a movement for change.
Thanks to your amazing support, Real Change is constantly improving. We are working to make an even greater difference in your community.
This year, goals include creating new vendor success through improved training and marketing, an expanded focus on racial equity, deeper policy analysis in our reporting, and more reader and vendor engagement in advocacy.
We’ve already seen some exciting changes in 2016.
Improved vendor support and sales training has more than doubled our new vendor retention rates. Nearly every vendor who attends orientation is still active a month later.
We’re working with AIGA Design for Good program to market Real Change as an award-winning community news source, and we’re improving our new digital app to facilitate electronic sales and attract new and younger readers.
We’ve established a nine-person vendor leadership committee to ensure that the voices of homeless and low-income people are represented throughout the organization.
With the additions of Ashley Archibald and Martha Tesema to our news staff, we’ve increased our capacity for policy analysis, cultural and racial equity reporting. We’ve enlisted more vendor voices in our editorial decisions and developed new vendor writers for the paper.
We’re improving staff and volunteer recruitment to better reflect the people we serve. Of six new board members added this year, four are people of color and another was a vendor.
We’ve launched the RC AllStars campaign to build power for legislative advocacy. By the end of this year, we’ll have 1,000 advocates who have pledged to take action at least three times annually.
When you do your part to help us meet this week’s $50,000 GiveBIG match goal, your gift ensures that Real Change will keep growing and improving, year after year.
More than half of Real Change’s budget comes from readers like you, readers who value our work and want to see it grow.
Your gift to Real Change through the Seattle Foundation — made between now and midnight on May 3 — will be doubled by our friends at Wyncote Foundation NW.
