Special people, special place
Aaron [Burkhalter] —The article about Rainier Beach Urban Farm (“Growing trend,” RC, May 27) really captured the special quality of the place and the people attached to it. Thank you for being so perceptive and thorough, and such a fine reporter!

A woman’s right. Period.
I was glad to see a full-page article (“A woman’s right. Period,” RC, May 20) regarding this issue. We women have to deal with this EVERY month! As a woman who has not had to deal with being homeless, I can’t relate to what it’s like not to be able to buy feminine hygiene items; I’ve always had the means and it was (I don’t bleed anymore-yea!) just a monthly nuisance. No woman should have to suffer the indignity of begging because she’s bleeding!
I’m writing to ask everyone — men, too, because you DO know about it! — if you can, to donate these items to Mary’s Place or other day centers and shelters … and to my sisters, let’s leave these items in restrooms everywhere!

Stinky situation
I want to tell you what I think of your plan to go digital. It stinks. You know that the vendors who sell Real Change print newspapers, for cash, would prefer to get the cash. Some of your supporters, like me, don’t own smart phones and don’t want our every move and every purchase to be part of the digital record. I’ll still buy printed Real Change papers as long as they are available, but I won’t be making any more extra donations.
