The People’s Tribunal on Juvenile Justice at Seattle University March 28 brought together more than 500 people to address the causes of juvenile detention and incarceration in the United States. The tribunal, which was organized by the group Ending the Prison Industrial Complex (EPIC), found the juvenile justice system “guilty” of creating a crisis among youth of color in the country. The tribunal then used a community-based approach to glean ideas for transforming the current system.
