To make change, change your vote
I read with great interest Rev. Lang's editorial, "Political Parties aren't creating change ..."(RC, April 11, 2012). I have to differ in part. The Republican Party is working to return us to the era of the robber barons, and the Democratic Party is several steps behind them. The political parties working for change have different names. Many of you know the Green Party, and you might have liked some support for the environment. The Socialists have been made a bogeyman, despite their hard work to protect unions and keep health care alive in this state. The Progressive Party has been working since 1912 for change, and the ground we are losing today is coming from their efforts in the past.
Even the Constitution Party is to the left of modern-day Republicans.
It is the small parties who come up with the ideas, make the challenges, and are swept off the ballot and kept out of the news. I noticed that some of the Socialists ideas are actually getting into Real Change, and I say, "Bravo."
Please, readers, look at the party preference on your ballot and check for party names you may have to think or learn about. If you want change, change who you vote for.
