If the paper you hold in your hands feels a little different, your senses are not deceiving you. It's a new year, and in a few small but significant ways, we're a new newspaper.
Real Change is now printed on a slightly heavier and larger paper stock. It's not exactly super-sized, but the print edition has gotten taller, narrower and added some bulk. You could think of it as lean muscle mass, propelling us forward rather than weighing us down.
The fact that we've grown up and slimmed down while many print publications are withering away is a testament to our confidence -- and yours -- in the mission of Real Change. Devoted readers, vendors, donors and volunteers have given us the strength and encouragement to set new goals and reach for them.
These subtle changes are the first of several improvements planned for 2011, but as with any meaningful makeover, we're changing on the inside, too.
Some of these transformations may come from you. Information culled from our forthcoming reader survey will tell us who our readers are, why they buy Real Change, and how we can build a better newspaper in 2011.
Thanks for helping us turn the page.
