The result of the election is that our nation has taken another step towards oligarchic-fascism. The temptation is to despair and shut down, to apathetically, perhaps cynically, devolve into one's own little world, minding one's own little business, and hope that you can age out before the inevitable collapse of democracy. Let's face it, these next few years aren't going to be pretty. The water is getting choppy and there's a whopper of a storm, complete with storm-troopers, coming our way. The temptation is to despair.
Jeremiah was known as the prophet of doom who tried to warn his nation and then watched helplessly as his warnings were laughed at all the way up to the time of collapse. But the odd thing is that once the collapse did come, gloomy Jeremiah took out some money and bought real estate in a time of complete cultural confusion. He said, in the face of all contrary evidence, that "This land will be fertile again. This land will be productive again."
For folks who desire commonwealth, we live in a time when money worshippers rule the land. We've been warning about a coming collapse. We're still warning but the time of screaming fire is over because the flames that started in the foundation are beginning to engulf the whole structure.
But this is no time to despair. There's work to do and we were created for this work. All your life you've felt unease because you could smell something burning but you couldn't quite identify the source. But the flames are now visible and you can both see and name. The bottom line is that the age old battle between bankers and people, between pharaoh and slaves, between empire and community has come to a definitive point: cultural warfare, economic warfare is out in the open and the teeth and fangs of those who desire to devour are roaring with increasing rage.
Some rejoice in this. Some like to see the rise of the Strong Man. Some like to see the other, who is not like us, eaten. Some like to saddle up to the Strong Man, to tell him how gorgeous and sexy he is, to tell him how glad they are to be his friend. Some like to submit and adore.
But not us, our values center upon equality and mutuality. We're not afraid to tell the Strong Man that he is wrong. We're not afraid to defend our plot of land. We're not afraid to become more vocal, more active and more strategically focused than ever before. Actually, the real result of this election is to summon the winds of revolution that bring with it the cleansing rains of renewal. This is no time to despair. It's time to be fertile again. It's time to act. We were made for such a time as this.
