Wed., Sept. 30, 12:18 a.m., Third Ave. Officer was dispatched to a suicide threat call from First Church Men's Shelter located on Third Ave. He arrived and contacted the complainant, who worked at the shelter. Complainant stated that a resident had told her he was planning on taking a bus to the Aurora Bridge and then jumping off. Officer contacted the subject, a white male aged 50, who said he had been feeling depressed, but was working through it. He appeared sedated and sad. He stated he had been planning to jump off the Aurora Bridge. Officer offered to take him to Harborview Medical Center to speak with a health care professional, but he declined and said it was not necessary. A check of the subject's records indicated he had also threatened suicide in March. Officer decided to call an ambulance and transported him to the hospital for a mental health evaluation.
Tues., Oct. 6, 10:45 p.m., 10th Ave. S. Officers on patrol noticed victim, a transient white male aged 36, walking onto property on S. Dearborn St. This property is marked "No Trespassing." The subject was walking away from officers, and when he was told to stop and turn around, officers noticed he was covered in blood and was bleeding from the face. He was reluctant to give any details about what had happened, other than to say he was assaulted. After further questioning he admitted he knew that person who had assaulted him but would not provide any other information. Seattle Fire Department arrived to tend to his injuries, and he stated to them he thought he might have been hit with a two-by-four. Subject was transported to Harborview for medical attention.
Sun., Oct. 11, 4:51 p.m., MLK JR Way S./S. Alaska St. Witnesses called 911 to report a crying female in the area that might need assistance. Police and Seattle Fire Department both responded to the scene. Officers arrived first and located the subject, a transient black female. She was disheveled and lying on a bench at the corner of the intersection. She responded to the officer's questions, but she was speaking rapidly and her answers were irrational and made no sense. Officers realized she was unable to care for herself in her condition, and were about to pat her down for weapons. She was wearing a baggy jacket over many other layers of clothing. They ordered her to stand up and turn around so they could pat her down, and she complied. Suddenly she turned and spat in the officer's face, hitting her mouth. Subject was placed on the ground and into handcuffs, and transported to Harborview for a mental health evaluation. Subject stated she had intended to spit on the officer, and also stated that she was hungry as she hadn't eaten in four days. She was medically cleared by Harborview, and was transported to King County Jail for booking on investigation of assault.
