It's been a long haul, but CASA Latina has finally moved from Belltown to its new day labor dispatch center at 317 17th Ave. S. in Seattle's Central District.
The move, into a remodeled office building that CASA bought with city help, comes two and a half years after the organization first started holding meetings with neighbors to reach a Good Neighbor Agreement that the parties signed in January 2008.
A group of laborers that were unhappy with the center picketed the first day, CASA Latina Executive Director Hilary Stern says in an email to supporters, but the "mini-revolution" has since dissipated.
