Fri., March 13, 4 a.m., 1200 Block Alaskan Way S. Victim, a transient white male aged 58, reported that his wallet was stolen from his backpack while he was sleeping in a tent under the Alaskan Way Viaduct. He stated he was sound asleep and when he awoke he noticed his backpack was open and some of his papers were scattered outside the tent. The stolen items included his wallet, containing his driver's license, Social Security card and ID. No suspect information was available, and victim was given a case number.
Sun., March 15, 3:05 p.m., 30th Ave. NE, Dick's Drive-in. Officer was dispatched to a report of a 911 hang-up call at 30th Ave. NE. On arrival he noticed the subject, a transient black female aged 28, in the phone booth at Dick's Drive-In. She was holding the phone in her hand and looking confused. Officer asked if anything was wrong, and she refused to answer. He then told the subject to stop calling 911 unless there was anything wrong. Approximately five minutes later the officer was re-dispatched to the same call at the same location. Subject was again standing in the phone booth with the phone in her hand. Her eyes were twitching back and forth rapidly, and she seemed confused. Officer called an ambulance, and subject was transported to Harborview for an evaluation.
Mon., March 16, 11:24 p.m., Sixth Ave. S./S. Dearborn Ave. Victim, a transient white female aged 44, called 911 to report she was the victim of an assault by a former boyfriend. She said that she and the suspect had been living together on and off for about a year in his van. She stated they had had their arguments in the past, but that suspect had never been assaultive. Their intimate relationship had ended, but he continued to allow her to stay in his van. At around 11 p.m. victim stated she had been sitting in the van talking to a male friend sitting in the front seat. Suspect was in the back of the van intoxicated. Without warning or provocation suspect sprayed them with pepper spray -- the other male left. Suspect then hit the victim on the back of the head, possibly with an object. He then dragged her into the back of the van and strangled her with his hands. She lost consciousness, and woke up still inside the van. She suffered a broken nose and a bruised larynx and was transported to Harborview Medical Center for treatment. Since the time of the assault the suspect's whereabouts are unknown, and his van is gone from his usual location.
Tues., March 17, 4:53 p.m., Maynard Ave. S/S. Jackson St. While officer was on patrol he socially contacted subject, a transient Native American female aged 42, who was sitting on a bench at the corner of Maynard Ave. S and S. Jackson. He recognized her as someone he had contacted before, and knew she was active with the Department of Corrections (DOC). He contacted her and asked if she had been checking in with the DOC as stipulated. She stated that she had, but a check of her name revealed she was in violation of her parole. She was arrested and booked into King County Jail.
