Thurs., July 17, 10:11 p.m., Boylston Ave. E. Officers were dispatched to Boylston Ave. on a report of a mental male screaming in the middle of the street, yelling at passersby and trying to flag down vehicles. On arrival they observed the subject, a transient white male aged 54, going through a dumpster. When contacted the subject began yelling unintelligibly. A nearby witness stated he had heard the subject yelling and had observed him from his apartment chasing pedestrians down the street. Officers requested an ambulance, and subject was transported to Harborview for a mental health evaluation.
Fri., July 18, 2:50 p.m., University Way Ne. An officer was dispatched to a call of an assault. Caller stated he was walking northbound on University Ave. around 2 p.m. when he passed a small group of males. One of them said something rude to him, and as he turned to reply he was jumped by two of the men. Victim, a transient white male aged 25, was struck in and around the face several times, and officer noted visible swelling on his forehead and bruising on his nose. Victim described the males as "Ave rats." As the interview was being conducted a witness walked up and stated he had tried to break up the assault, but had also been struck. He too had visible swelling, but declined any medical attention. Victim was offered medical assistance but declined, and left the scene with a case number.
Fri., July 18, 8:15 p.m., Maynard Ave. S. On the listed date and time officers observed suspect, a transient Black male aged 43, with a group of five other males. They were huddled in a doorway mid-block. All six suspects were contacted, and suspect was found to have an outstanding warrant. This was verified by radio, and suspect was arrested and booked into King County Jail.
Fri., July 18, 9:40 p.m., Third Ave./Pine St. Officers stopped suspect, a transient Black male aged 31, on Third Ave. and Pine St. for a Department of Correction (DOC) stipulation. They had observed the suspect walking towards the Bite of Seattle and was aware he was active with the DOC. Officer contacted a DOC officer, who advised that suspect should be stopped as he was out past his 7 p.m. curfew. Officer stopped the suspect, who stated he was just buying cigarettes and something to eat. The DOC officer advised police to arrest suspect for being out past his curfew, and suspect was transported to the precinct. There he was turned over to DOC, and was released after signing an agreement.
Fri., July 18, 10:27 p.m., Second Ave. Suspect, a transient white male aged 63, was observed by officers standing in a pay parking lot just north of the 155 block of Second Ave. The lot is clearly marked "No Trespassing" and "For Customers Only." Suspect had several bags with him, and when asked by officers if he had a car in the lot replied "No." Since the officers now believed that the suspect was trespass- ing they verbally obtained ID and ran his name via radio. Radio came back with an outstanding warrant, and suspect was arrested and booked into King County Jail.
