Fri., Dec. 7, 12:41 a.m., N. 43rd St./Aurora Ave N. Officers on patrol observed the three suspects, transient white males aged 38, 45, and 40, loitering in front of the Fremont Motel on Aurora Ave. This area is known for its high incidences of drugs, prostitution, and stolen vehicles. Officer exited his vehicle and attempted to make contact. He observed a shiny silver object tossed from the area the males were standing — it appeared to come from the left of the first suspect. He looked on the ground and observed a wadded-up piece of foil, which he retrieved. It appeared to be from a cigarette packet. He opened the foil and found what appeared to be a crack cocaine rock. Since the officer was unable to positively prove ownership of the recovered narcotics the three suspects were identified and released from the scene. The suspected crack cocaine was field tested and was found positive.
